Weather and climate in Valga
Valga is the southern gateway of Estonia, a twin town with Valka in Latvia, and the climate here is strongly continental: summer heat and winter cold are both at the top end for Estonia. Being far from the sea, the temperature swings between day and night are large.
Thunderstorm fronts often reach southern Estonia from the Latvian side - the live lightning map also shows strikes south of the border, so you can see a storm approaching before it reaches Estonia.
Where this forecast comes from
Most weather sites show a single model and give the impression that the answer is certain. Ilmapiir compares nine national weather models at once: ECMWF, Germany's DWD ICON, the US GFS, the UK Met Office, Météo-France, Norway's MET, Canada's GEM, Japan's JMA and China's CMA.
